Madison-area folks are invited to take part in a funky food event next Friday with the chance to be part of a cooking reality TV show.

Madison Area Technical College's Truax campus on Wright Street will host the "Frankenfood" event from noon to 4 p.m. in the gourmet dining room. Frankenfood is a new buzzword for a dish made up of many contrasting parts that would not normally be paired together but stitched together as one, makes sense and tastes good (or at least tastes good to you).

Everyone is welcome to create a never-been-seen-before dish to bring as a show-and-tell, organizers said. Participants can chat with other fun foodies while adding the finishes to their unique creation. After completing a dish, participants will have a chance to show it to the producers.

If they like what they see, you could have a chance to compete on SPIKE TV'S new cooking competition show "Frankenfood," competing for a $10,000 prize and your crazy dish put on a local restaurant menu.

Examples can include upside-down macaroni and cheese sardine pizza; a chocolate chip and gummie bear pancake-wrapped sausage on a stick; or a grilled cheese seafood cookie. (Pinterest offers a few "Frankenfood" examples: http://www.pinterest.com/armjam/food-for-frankenfood.)

Participants should bring a 90-percent completed Frankenfood creation (an equipped kitchen is available for any finishing touches).

Organizers asked that no one wear chef clothing. Anyone interested in attending can email contact information to stavros@sharpentertainment.com.
