Madison Schools To Remain Closed On Friday | Crime
Madison schools will be closed again Friday, but this time it's for a previously scheduled day off for teachers to attend a regional conference for professional development.
The Madison school district had approached Madison Teachers Inc. about turning Friday into a makeup day, since the school district was closed for 4 days last week and this week due to teachers taking absences to protest Gov. Scott Walker's budget bill.
However, the school district said a timely agreement couldn't be reached between the teacher's union and the district about turning February 25 into a makeup day.
The school district said once a plan to make up lost class days and time is finalized between the school district and the teacher's union, they will let everyone know right away.
“We realize that families want to know as soon as possible how days will be made up,” said Madison School Superintendent Dan Nerad, “And we will communicate as soon as a plan is finalized.”
