Graham Stowe convicted for escaping Mendota Mental Health
News

Jurors took only 20 minutes to convict a man for escaping Mendota Mental Health last summer.

Graham Stowe, 30, was on trial Wednesday for prompting a massive manhunt around July 4 after police said he fled the facility.

Stowe faces up to three years in prison.

He was a patient at Mendota Mental Health and was serving a 39-year commitment for a 2004 incident in which he held an ex-girlfriend hostage.

Prosecutors told jurors Stowe escaped the facility on July 2 while he was out on the grounds. Officials had been planning to move him to a more secure area after learning he had contact with the woman he held hostage.

Stowe was on the run until October when he was arrested by U.S. marshals in Fond du Lac.
