City of Madison firefighters were able to quickly extinguish a fire at an apartment building on the city's north side Monday night.
Firefighters were called to 9 Ridgeview Court at about 9:30 p.m. Quick work by the firefighters prevented structural damage to the eight-unit, two-story building, according to a Madison Fire Department news release.
No occupants were injured. Damages are estimated at $5,000, and all occupants were able to return home, fire officials said.
Assistant Chief Jim Keiken praised witnesses outside who first spotted the fire on the exterior of the building and called 911.
When crews arrived at the scene, they found vinyl siding smoldering on the front of the building.
Crews believe hot exterior lights above the patios may have contributed to the fire, officials said.
