A Madison man accused of starving and torturing his 15-year-old daughter has posted bail and been released from jail on Monday.
Dane County sheriff's Sgt. Nick Skrepenski said Chad Chritton was released Monday about 5:30 p.m. after his $9,000 bail was paid.
Chritton, 41, and his wife, Melinda Drabeck-Chritton, 42, are accused of locking the girl in the basement and denying her food until she wasted away to 68 pounds, the weight of an average 9-year-old.
The girl's stepbrother is also accused of sexually assaulting her.
The father and stepmother each face six felonies, including child abuse and neglect. The couple has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Last month, Dane County Judge Julie Genovese lowered bail for the couple to $9,000 each. Bail had been set at $22,500 for Chritton and $30,000 for Drabeck-Chritton.
All parties are due back in court on Aug. 31.
