The Madison Mallards used great starting pitching and an explosive offense to get a 9-0 win over the Wisconsin Woodchucks at the Duck Pond at Warner Park Thursday night.

The Mallards 26-23 overall, have now started the second half of the season at 10-4.

The Mallards scored seven runs in the third inning to secure the victory. �First basemen Jeff Zimmermann hit a three-run homer in the inning, and designated hitter Jack Livingston hit a two-run bomb.

Catcher Mike Reuvekamp also got his first home of the season later in the game to complete the scoring.

Mallards starter Matt LaMothe threw seven scoreless innings, and struck out six.

The Mallards head to Battle Creek for three games this weekend before getting a few days off for the Northwoods League All-Start game.
