A man charged in the slaying of his ex-girlfriend's boyfriend will undergo a competency exam.

A Dane County judge made the ruling Wednesday in the case against Matthew O'Dell, 25.

O'Dell is accused of fatally stabbing Craig O'Donnell on June 30 in the Oak Park Terrace trailer park community on Madison's north side.

According to the criminal complaint, O'Dell stabbed O'Donnell more than 20 times because he was enraged that he was dating O'Dell's ex-girlfriend.
