Interim chief of staff position created for Madison schools | News

On Dan Nerad's final day as the Madison school superintendent, the school board decided to hire an interim chief of staff.

The new position will report to Interim Superintendent Jane Belmore.

The board unanimously approved the $170,000 position, a school board member says. The salary will come from reallocated funds, not new taxpayer dollars.

The position is also temporary and the new superintendent can hire his or her own staff.

The interim chief of staff position includes coordinating the district achievement gap plan, alternative programs, and community partnerships.
