Madison Area Technical College’s culinary team is representing Wisconsin in a regional competition this weekend.
The team of five, deemed state champions, will head to Detroit to compete in the "Student Hot Food Competition."
They’ll compete in three different categories: The skill phase, cold phase and a four-course meal.
The students had their last practice making their four-course meal Monday afternoon. They have only an hour and a half on the clock.
"When students do this and put themselves out this far, I mean they've been practicing since September, 10 to 15 hours a week," said Madison College culinary instructor John Johnson. "They're going to show off and make Wisconsin proud in a couple of days."
Monday night is the awards ceremony. The winner will compete in the national competition in Orlando this July
