A small plane carrying three people has crashed at the Dane County Regional Airport on Friday morning, according to airport officials.

Airport spokesperson Brent Mchenry said there were three people aboard the SOCATA TBM 700 general aviation plane when it crashed. McHenry said they walked away from the incident.

Madison Fire Department spokeswoman Bernadette Galvez said two of the passengers went to St. Mary's Hospital for minor injuries. Galvez said officials don't know what caused the crash, which happened while the plane was taking off. But they do know there was a fire, and firefighters put out several spot fires caused by the crash.

The crash happened just after 8:30 a.m. Friday. The airport reopened to traffic just after 9 a.m.

The Madison Fire Department and the airport fire department are responding to the crash.
